Resorts World Sentosa Opens
Thanks to the opening up of Resorts World Sentosa (Sentosa meaning tranquillity), Singapore has brought a new dimension to idea of tourism.
Located in the southern portion of the Singapore Marina, Resorts World Sentosa is an integrated resort with restaurants, hotels, theme parks, a convention centre and a shopping centre. It brings with it a stylish casino which has created some 500 to 800 jobs for local croupiers, hospitality staff and managers.
Sentosa was once called Pulau Belakang Mati (which can be literally taken as Island of Death from Behind). The name of the island was changed to Sentosa (tranquillity) for tourism reasons, and now 2 million visitors visit the island every year. Visitors can see historical sites like the Siloso fort, play at the golf courses, or since its opening in Feb 2010, visit Resorts World.
Although the popular attractions of Resorts World Sentosa are extensive and varied, the gaming hall is mind-blowing. Any visitor coming here should be prepared to be overwhelmed and dazzled by one of the most attractive gaming halls in the world, with everything you expect from any world-leading casino and much more.
Delicious Singaporean cuisine can also be enjoyed here whilst talking in one of the many world-class shows and displays like the glass sculptures made by Dale Chihuly. The excitement goes on 24/7, and customers receive unparalleled privileges regardless of whether you are here to roll the dice, appreciate the delicious food or just enjoy the modern architecture.
This casino is strict about responsible gaming, which is why it has a number of rules and regulations to make the experience a more enjoyable, pleasant and happy one. Club members can get special rewards and privileges if they have a flutter at the casino often.
You can easily get to Sentosa by catching a Jet Star direct flight from Darwin to Singapore. The flight will take about four hours. Foreigners coming to the resort will need to show their passports, along with a valid immigration stamp and students will need to show their student ID, along with photo or a long-term visiting pass, before they are allowed to enter the casino.
Once in Singapore, Sentosa can be easily reached by public bus, the Sentosa express and the MRT railway system.
